End of De Minimis Tax Exemption for US Imports (Effective August 29, 2025)
Dear KMD Customers,
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced a change in import policy: Starting August 29, 2025, all international shipments to the US will be subject to customs duties and taxes, regardless of their declared value or origin.
🔺 Key Policy Changes
1. The De Minimis threshold ($800 exemption) will no longer apply to any commercial shipments
2. All shipments, regardless of value, will require formal or informal customs clearance
3. Delays and additional import fees may occur as a result
✅ Exemptions
- Gifts from individuals abroad to individuals in the U.S. under $100 are still duty-free
(Up to $200 for shipments from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, or American Samoa) - Personal items carried by travelers entering the U.S. remain duty-free up to $200
📦 What KMD Customers Should Know
· From August 29, 2025, all KMD purchases and shipments may be subject to import taxes and duties in the U.S.
· Shipments above $100 or not classified as gifts may be taxed by U.S. Customs
· KMD will enhance its customs declaration process and customer support to minimize potential impact
